This antenna was built in 1933 and was used as a radiating transmitting tower until 1979 when it was replaced by the Monte Ceneri Cima di Dentro antenna, about 9 km to the east. The base insulators have been shorted (grounding the whole structure) and the tower is now used as stand for VHF/UHF broadcast antennas.
See Monte Ceneri Cima di Dentro for a short history of this transmitter.
